What can night and darkness teach us about healing our sleep and dream? And what might sleep and dreaming teach us about consciousness? Dr. Rubin Naiman believes that trying to understand sleep and dreams from a waking-world perspective is like trying to understand darkness by using a flashlight. This pioneer in sleep and dream health will discuss an integrative approach that invites subjectivity back into science, balancing sleep medicine’s objectivity with personal meaning and a sacred perspective.
Dr. Naiman will offer healing practices for our disturbed sleep, dreams and waking, challenging us to embrace the forgotten spiritual potential of night.
Rubin Naiman, PhD is the sleep and dream specialist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine. He also is the director of sleep programs for Miraval Resort. Dr. Naiman maintains a private practice and provides professional consultation and training internationally.
